From Amsterdam: ~1.20 hours by car, alternatively ~1.30 hours by train to Meppel or Steenwijk, then a 10-minute taxi ride. From Düsseldorf: ~2.40 hours by car, alternatively ~3 hours by train via Zwolle to Meppel or Steenwijk, then a 10-minute taxi ride.
Parking
[UPDATED] There's no direct parking at either venue, so we'd still recommend arriving on foot or by taxi if possible. Driving anyway? The parking option we previously mentioned is unfortunately no longer available due to construction and limited space. These are your best alternatives: - Parking option 1 – €6 for the entire day and the safest option if you want to be sure of a spot. - Parking option 2 – Free, but spaces are limited, so you'll have to be a little lucky. - Parking option 3 – Free parking along the side of the street, where there's usually a spot available. And one last tip: even though it currently isn't looking like rain, please bring an umbrella just in case. We'd also recommend bringing a sweater or jacket for the evening, as it can get a little chilly later on.

Uber and local taxis serve the Giethoorn area, but keep in mind that most taxis come from larger nearby towns, so expect a slightly longer wait and higher fares than you might be used to.

Giethoorn and the nearby towns of Steenwijk and Meppel have charming B&Bs, holiday cottages, and hotels. Staying in the village means you can walk everywhere. If you'd like recommendations or need help finding accomodation, just reach out to us - we're happy to point you in the right direction.
